President's Message
We are working hard in Merritt to continue to brand this community as the Country Music Capital of Canada. We are currently focused on opening the Canadian Country Music Hall of Honour in downtown Merritt. The grand opening is planned for Sepember 4, 2010. It is such an excellent opportunity for the City of Merritt to have a National Museum and Hall of Honour here in the Southern Interior.
The current location, in downtown Merritt, will house Phase One. Depending on available funding, a permanent location will include state of the art technology - interactive displays, a performing arts theatre and gift shop. This will also be the location of the BC Country Music Hall of Fame.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support of Merritt.
Ron Sanders
President

Merritt Walk of Stars 7th Annual Gala Weekend was a big success.
MWOS Gala Weekend was held May 28th - May 30th this year. The weekend included an Industry Night hosted by Iron Mountain Music, outdoor performances (moved into the future Hall of Honour due to a little inclement weather), the 7th Annual Gala and the 1st Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament.
The Gala crowd was enterterained by Gord Bamford, Beverley Mahood, Charlie Major, Valdy, The Higgins, AJ Woodworth, Ridley Bent, Tammy Weymouth, Stuart Emslie and Rob Hess. Proceeds from the event will support the opening of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Honour in downtown Merritt in September 2010.
Thank you to our major sponsors: Merritt News, Vincor Canada, Thompson Nicola Film Commission, CCMA and Michelle Loughery Murals.
